Welcome to the world's tallest slum: poverty-ridden Venezuela's Tower of David. Squatters took over this very unfinished 45-story skyscraper in the early 1990s, and they've been there ever since. The tower was originally intended to be a symbol of Caracas' bright financial future, complete with a rooftop helipad, but construction stopped because of a banking crisis and the sudden death of the tower's namesake, David Brillembourg.
Today, as the government is grappling with a citywide housing shortage, the tower is a stark monument to what could have been in the country's crime-plagued capital. The tower is dogged by accusations of being a hotbed of crime, drugs and corruption. But to residents, many of whom have spent their entire lives there, it's just home.
Watch as Vocativ climbs the tower and gains the rare in-depth access to residents' daily lives inside this unique and sinister establishment.
A Real NASA Moon Camera Is on Ebay Right Now
Ever wanted to take pictures like an astronaut? Now's your chance. There's an original Hasselblad 500EL Electric Camera kit has appeared on eBay. Just like the ones that were used on the lunar Apollo missions. Anyhoo, back to this camera on eBay. This IS actually the same camera as the ones used by NASA astronauts. However, after Hassy produced it for NASA in 1969, it was given as a gift to the then-President of Hasselblad, and then regifted to the company’s Head Canadian Distributor. It’s been sitting in a private collection… until now. The pack comes with everything you could need from lenses to promotional booklets, and the camera is both in working order and excellent condition. According to Setadel, less pristine versions have sold for over $100,000, so this is technically a pretty good deal. The gear itself has custom enhancements that make the pieces easier for astronauts to use, namely larger knobs and controls that can be handled while wearing large and bulky spacesuit gloves. Hasselblad NASA Moon camera on eBay for $75,000, the auction ending tomorrow. No bids yet!

    This Shark is Not Photoshopped
An unnamed fisherman in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia, caught a really big shark. In order to have a trophy photo that would stand out from the others, he gutted the shark and crawled inside for the photo you see here. A friend put the picture on the wall of the Metung Hotel. John Burns talked about it on his 3AW radio show.
"This fellow has decided as a jape to climb inside the shark with a knife, put his hand through the gills of the shark and pretended to stab it between the eyes," Mr Burns said on 3AW this morning, before telling listeners about the reaction of an American couple who saw the picture at the Metung Hotel.
"An American couple have turned up at the Metung Hotel to see this photo and their immediate response from the wife was 'Did he survive!?'."
The fisherman was standing right behind her at the time. Presumably, his answer was "yes".

    35Foot Tall Straw Dalek
The UK is going crazy for Daleks as the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who approaches. It's the creation of an ice cream shop in Cheshire called Snugbury's, which does giant straw sculptures every year:
The Dalek standing out in the Hurleston field is not likely to exterminate passers-by, but is sure to delight young and old as the Doctor Who series celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Hundreds of visitors have already flocked to marvel at the 35ft creation, which weighs in at little over six tonnes.

"This was the idea that was suggested most by customers, particularly with the anniversary in mind.
"The Royal baby was a contender too, but this was the most popular choice, and we thought it would look pretty cool too."
Snugbury's has been erecting its giant straw sculptures for more than 10 years, but this one is by far the most advanced yet.
It features two fully movable parts - the head and the gun - and also includes audio.
