Is there a mother out there who doesn’t warn their children that going out in the cold is going to make them sick? Have you heard that old chestnut about losing all of your body’s heat through your head? Do you think drinking alcohol will warm you up?
All myths! We’ll discuss them on this week’s Healthcare Triage.
Coffee Mug With Pipe In Handle
It's a $50 ceramic coffee mug with an "intented-for-tobacco-use-only" pipe in the handle. The Pipemug offers the most convenient wake and bake experience ever by bringing coffee and weed together.
"The world's only mug with a pipe in it! Don't compromise your comfort by searching for your pipe when relaxing with your favorite drink from your mug, because now the two are one in the same! Feel at ease knowing there's no cross contamination between your smoke and your favorite drink. The PIPEMUG is the only way sip it and rip it!"

Japan Breast Beautifying Hand On A Stick
    Other   /   Comments
This is the Oppai Taisou Hand, a $28 piece of plastic that's supposed to make your breasts look and feel better.  It it works by dragging back fat around and adding it to your tits. Thankfully, there's an even shiftier explanation:
"Shindo explains that a woman's breasts are strung up by ligaments, and if these ligaments don't get sufficient movement, the fats in the breast will start to settle back against the chest muscles, resulting in unshapely, or even sagging boobies.
Oppai Hagashi supposedly detaches the breast ligaments from the chest muscles and directs the fats back to where they belong, restoring shape, while Oppai Yurashi resets the tension in the ligaments holding up the breasts, thus regaining elasticity and perkiness. The massage also improves blood circulation, which promotes healthier, beautifully shaped breasts

"There’s one vegetable at the Christmas dinner table that’s always bound to elicit strong and contrary opinions: brussels sprouts. Much like marmite, they seem to conjure up a ‘love it or hate it’ sentiment; however, if you fall into the latter camp, there may actually be a chemical and genetic reason why you can’t stand the taste.  "

Robotic Bartender Mixes The Perfect Cocktail

The Somabar robotic bartender project is currently over on the Kickstarter crowd funding website and was looking to raise $50,000 in pledges to make the jump from concept to production. However the project has already passed $100,000 in fund in just it first few days. Its creators explain :
When you press that button on the app, your SOMABAR will take the ingredients from scratch, infuse bitters (if you are in the mood) and dynamically mix them in precise quantities using positive displacement pumps before pouring out your craft cocktail in less than 5 seconds.
The mixing comes from a combination of fluid dynamics, kinetic energy, and turbulence created by static vanes. What that means is fewer moving parts to maintain, as well as fast and perfectly mixed cocktails. Our on-board software and sensors make it easy to make new recipes and manage your inventory (liquid gold).”

NASA Rover Finds Mysterious Methane Emissions on
    News   /   Comments
NASA's Mars Curiosity rover has measured a tenfold spike in methane, an organic chemical, in the atmosphere around it and detected other organic molecules in a rock-powder sample collected by the robotic laboratory’s drill.
"This temporary increase in methane -- sharply up and then back down -- tells us there must be some relatively localized source," said Sushil Atreya of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and Curiosity rover science team. "There are many possible sources, biological or non-biological, such as interaction of water and rock."
Researchers used Curiosity’s onboard Sample Analysis at Mars (SAM) laboratory a dozen times in a 20-month period to sniff methane in the atmosphere. During two of those months, in late 2013 and early 2014, four measurements averaged seven parts per billion. Before and after that, readings averaged only one-tenth that level.
Curiosity also detected different Martian organic chemicals in powder drilled from a rock dubbed Cumberland, the first definitive detection of organics in surface materials of Mars. These Martian organics could either have formed on Mars or been delivered to Mars by meteorites.
Organic molecules, which contain carbon and usually hydrogen, are chemical building blocks of life, although they can exist without the presence of life. Curiosity's findings from analyzing samples of atmosphere and rock powder do not reveal whether Mars has ever harbored living microbes, but the findings do shed light on a chemically active modern Mars and on favorable conditions for life on ancient Mars.
