Wink Relay - Smart Home Wall Controller

Wink Relay Smart Home Wall Controller
Home  |  Appliance

With built-in wireless standards for WiFi, Zigbee, and Bluetooth, the Wink Relay replaces a traditional light switch and brings a 4.3-inch touchscreen controller to allow you to connect all things that are Wink-compatible, including lights, smoke alarms, garage doors, locks, thermostats, blinds, and more. “There’s lots of times where controlling this from the app makes more sense, but there’s also lots of times when you’re at home where your phone’s in your purse, or you run out the door, or you’re in your bedroom,” McGovren, Wink’s head of marketing, says. “Sometimes it’s much easier to reach over and tap a light switch like you would normally do.”
The Relay is quite pricey with pre-orders starting at $300 via Amazon.

Hilla Shamia's Cast Aluminum and Tree Trunk Furniture

Hilla Shamia s Cast Aluminum and Tree Trunk
Home  |  Furniture
Hilla Shamia, an Israel based industrial designer, has created "a novel way to meld poured aluminum with irregularly shaped wood pieces to create sleek tables and benches.  The process preserves that natural form of the tree trunk while still allowing the molten aluminum to flow into the crevices of the wood, slightly burning the area where the two materials meet." Rather than simply joining the two materials with nuts and bolts the aluminum is poured directly into the wood, which is then cast into the body of the pieces.
