Schienenzeppelin the aluminum train driven by a giant
    Gear  |  Pic
This "rail zeppelin" from 1930 could have profoundly changed transportation if it weren't for that huge unprotected propeller on its rear. Built by the German rail company Deutsche Reichsbahn, the Schienenzeppelin was powered by a 46-liter MBW V-12 engine, allowing the train to jet along at 120 miles per hour (max 140 mph) with 600 horsepower via its ash propeller.

    SpringWalker Running Exoskeleton
    Gear  |  Gadget

Edwards’ SpringWalker spring-assisted lower-body exoskeleton that amplifies the speed and range of a motion.
"The SpringWalker body amplifier is the first of a new breed of vehicles -- it's got legs. Isn't it strange, with the wonderful running and leaping capabilities of all kinds of animals, that there are still no machines to get you from here to there on legs? Why not? The answer is surprisingly simple: Our bodies are so well designed that it has taken 200 years of human engineering to catch up. Even with advanced materials and power sources, our technology has not been capable of building a simple running vehicle until now. "
