Simply for holding onto while you wait for the light to change. It's located on a little Copenhagen traffic island where cyclists wait the light. A high railing to grasp with your hand and a foot railing for putting your foot up. The foot rest reads: "Hi, cyclist! Rest your foot here... and thank you for cycling in the city." Cool, a good idea!

This Cool Misa Digital Guitar with a touchpad that plays digital guitar, watch the video. Cool! By Sydney-based designer Michael. If you are interested in purchasing, you can contact it via mail.
"DIGITAL GUITAR VS ELECTRIC GUITAR - THE DIFFERENCE?

I am obsessed with digital guitar. But I also love electric guitar, and I have learned what it's good at and what it's capable of. Some of its most important qualities and characteristics stem from the very fact that the electric guitar is made out of wood and strings. A guitar string is "beautiful" - because the sound generated comes from the very vibration of the string, interfering with a magnetic flux and inducing an electric voltage, which is then amplified. Why would you want to emulate that? It is perfection. It is pure nature. It is in the analog domain. I did not intend the Misa digital guitar to replicate a traditional guitar.

THE REASON FOR THE MISA DIGITAL GUITAR

Guitars by their very nature have limitations. To create sound you need to hit a string, so that the sound at its most intense point is always the beginning of the pluck. The left hand controls what notes to play, and the right hand controls when to play these notes and the intensity of the notes. Effects can be inserted into the signal chain, but they are usually foot pedals which makes the experience of controlling effects disjointed from what your hands are doing. Plus, you can only really make use of one pedal at a time. Even in the (rare) case that controls are mounted on the guitar, the hand needs to switch between strings and controls. This may be okay if you only use effects occasionally, but when every note you play needs the controls set differently - good luck with that.
There are no strings on this instrument. The right hand doesn't pluck strings, it controls sound.

Concrete Canvas Shelters

Gear  |  Tech
Concrete Canvas shelters look like an amazing way to deliver shelter to emergency situations. They are rapidly deployable hardened shelters that require only water and air for construction. The building arrives in an airtight bag, is pulled out with a vehicle and inflated. The building can be deployed by just two people (and a bit of machinery) in 45 minutes. After squirting with water, the concrete impregnated fabric sets up and is ready for use in 24 hours. Covering it with an earthen berm helps keep it temperature controlled, and the interior can be kept as a sterile environment. Really cool tech!
"Concrete Canvas have developed two shelter variants, CCS25 and CCS54 (with 25sqm and 54sqm of floor space respectively). CCS structures have been designed to maximize their internal usable space. A standard CCS54 can accommodate up to 15 people according to Sphere Standards, Humanitarian and Disaster Response Charter. For longer term operations, CCS54 will accommodate 8 standard cots with free standing mosquito nets. The technology can be scaled up to provide even larger structures. Future product developments include shelters to be used for storage of vehicles and helicopters."

Nuit Blanche, City of Paris Mirror ball, 1000 mirrors, 7.5 meters in diameter. "La Maîtresse de la Tour Eiffel" is the title of an installation by Michel de Broin.
The spectacular view of the starry sky has long been a source of delight and curiosity, but the abundance of artificial light in urban areas produces a glow that covers the stars in the firmament. The largest mirror ball ever made was suspended from a construction crane 50 meters above the ground to render the starry sky to the citizens of Paris for one night in the Jardin du Luxembourg during the Nuit Blanche event

The Story Beyond The Still: The Cabbie

This video was Directed, Shot and Edited by Blake Whitman.
"When I was asked to interpret this still, a thousand different ideas flooded my mind. I wanted to create a dynamic film that took the audience on a journey and showed off the many strengths of this new breed of HD DSLR cameras, such as the Canon 7D, which we shot this film with. The camera's low light capabilities and light weight allow you to do things you'd never think to try with traditional cameras. This has been an amazing experience and it’s just the beginning. "

Night Lights

Night Lights

Night Lights project in Auckland NZ, really Cool, by YesYesNo, .
In this installation YesYesNo teamed up with The Church, Inside Out Productions and Electric Canvas to turn the Auckland Ferry Building into an interactive playground. Our job was to create an installation that would go beyond merely projection on buildings and allow viewers to become performers, by taking their body movements and amplifying them 5 stories tall.

We used 3 different types of interaction - body interaction on the two stages, hand interaction above a light table, and phone interaction with the tracking of waving phones. There were 6 scenes, cycled every hour for the public.

The Mobile Office by The Practice of Everyday Design.
"The Mobile Office was constructed from discarded materials within a one block radius from the site. All the material was transported to the site with our bikes and a makeshift dolly. The only purchased items were the hardware used to hold it together. The mobile office has allowed us to consolidate all the furniture and shelving into one mobile unit. This has freed up our office space allowing us the flexibility to make large scale models and have spontaneous dance parties."

Sleep Suit

Sleep Suit

Sleep Suit
Gear  |  Projects
Sleep Suit designed by Forrest Jessee. The suit acts as a transportable and adjustable cocoon that allows for constant air flow in a variety of different positions and environments. The sleep suit provides for a sound 30 minute nap.
The project attempts to challenge the idea of personal space in relationship to the human body and its surrounding environment. It is inspired by Buckminster Fuller’s practice of Dymaxion Sleeping, which involves four 30-minute naps over a period of 24 hours, and the material requirements for such conditions.
Architecturally, the very close relationship between the human body and the suit acts as the generator of form as well as tool to negotiate between the occupant and his or her surroundings. The structure of the material, a structural pleat, is used as a means to create feelings of connected and disconnectedness as well as provide varying levels of support for different parts of the body. By thinking of the cut pattern as sections of the body, the structure can act as a semi-permeable outer skin.
