The new rechargeable Scooter system concept. The 'Link' scooter system is designed as a modular transport solution that can be retrofitted to existing Streetscape Smart Poles. It allows users to hire a small lightweight electronic scooter from a hub and ride to the desired destination and then return the scooter to another hub, where it is recharged. The use of existing light poles reduces the cost of the unit and provides strong anchors that carry both telecommunications and power to the hub. The device was designed to suit the Sydney 2030 plan to reduce cars in the CBD and make the city more pedestrian oriented. By Mr Anton Grimes, who is the student of University of New South Wales.

The device called the "Mimi Switch", it looks like a normal set of headphones but is fitted with a set of infrared sensors that measure the inner ear movements resulting from various facial expressions. "An iPod can start or stop music when the wearer sticks his tongue out.." says inventor, Kazuhiro Taniguchi of Osaka University. Cool! This device can also programmed to run with various other facial expressions, such as a wriggle of the nose or a smile." The device could also serve as a remote control for appliances for physically disabled people, from cameras and computers to air conditioners, or alert medical services if a person has a fit, he said.

Note:Born in Romania, Steinberg studied architecture in the 1930s in Milan, where he gained early fame as a cartoonist. In America after World War II, he became a propagandist, illustrator, fabric and card designer, muralist, fashion and advertising artist, stage designer and the tireless creator of image-jammed books. In the 1960s he decided to concentrate on art for gallery shows and for The New Yorker.

Samsung has just announced the NX Series Camera! It could be the first hybrid camera which combines the DSLR image quality and compact point-and-shoot digital camera design. The Samsung's new NX Series feature like conventional DSLRs uses APS-C sized image sensor for a larger surface area to gather light. Unlike a DSLR, the NX Series does not feature a mirror box and employs an ultra-precise Electronic Viewfinder (EVF). The use of an EVF has allowed Samsung engineers to reduce the size and weight of the camera by decreasing the distance between the lens and image sensor (flange back) by approximately 60% compared to traditional DSLRs. The first model of the NX Series will be available in the second half of 2009. There is no spec and price info now!

Wireless webcams are difficult to set-up and they need power. Vue Personal Video Network($300; Pre-order) system includes two cameras, a base station and the webcams are battery powered. The system uses a 2.4GHz network called a FrameMesh that connects to either a base station or another camera up to 50 feet away. Originally developed for the Army, Avaak is also testing a system that uses thousands of tiny cameras - cubes about an inch across - that you can throw around a scene and watch remotely. In short, these are disposable cameras for home use that can stick almost anywhere and use very little power(Uses small coin battery; Up to one-year of battery life under normal usage ). The base station sends the video to VueZone.com where you can activate different cameras and watch what's going on in your home. Sadly, the kit has no motion sensor so you're stuck checking things out whenever you feel that something might be amiss They film in VGA at 10 frames per second with resolution of 640 x 480. The kit with two cameras costs $299 and additional cameras cost $99.
