The See How High You Can Throw Your Phone App
    Gear  |  Phone

'Send Me To Heaven' is a real Android app (rejected by Apple for “encouraging behavior that could result in damage to the user’s device”) that measures how high you throw your phone in the air.
"S.M.T.H. (Send Me To Heaven) is a sport game. Player throws his phone as high as he can. The higher, the better. The phone registers the height and uploads result to leader boards. World Top 10, Week Top 10 and Day Top 10 lists are available.
Hints: Be careful not to injure yourself or others. Be always aware that there is enough space above you and around you. Do some training to learn right skills to get best results. Switch on GPS on your phone and allow the App to use location to be able to take part in local competitions.
Known issues: Game works only on ARMv7 phones. Some phones show wrong results (usually 0 meters) when they rotate."
It is a free game that measures the altitude of your device as it soars (hopefully) gracefully through the air. Catching it isn't a requirement!

    The Annoyinator
    Gear  |  Projects

It’s essentially a targeted loudspeaker of sorts for your iDevices. The Annoyinator was conceptualized by the Henry, who is the son of Caleb Crome, the Kickstarter project’s listed creator.
Henry:  Hey Dad, can you make a loudspeaker that aims only in one direction?
Dad: Well, sort of.  Because of the way sound works, you need a very wide loudspeaker to make it directional and 'point' in some direction.  For a reasonable size loudspeaker, you can make it very directional only at high frequencies.
Henry: Awesome.  Can I make something that attaches to my iPod Touch and aims the sound from the 'Dog Whistle' app?
Dad:  Yes, you can do that.
Henry:  That's what I want to make!

After working on the design, the first Annoyinator was 3D printed. The Annoyinator recently reached its funding goal on Kickstarter.

    NASA s Newest Biggest Rocket
    Gear  |  Tech
NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) Program has just passed what's called a Preliminary Design Review, meaning that we're one step closer to sending this explosive stick of awesomeness into orbit.
"The 70 metric-ton SLS will stand 321 feet tall, provide 8.4 million pounds of thrust at liftoff, weigh 5.5 million pounds and carry 154,000 pounds of payload. That vehicle will set out on its first mission -- Exploration Mission 1 -- in 2017, launching an uncrewed Orion spacecraft to demonstrate the integrated system performance of the SLS rocket and spacecraft before a crewed flight.
The initial design will evolve into a 130 metric-ton (143 ton) configuration that will lift more than 286,000 pounds and provide 20 percent more thrust than the Saturn V, which launched American astronauts to the moon. Used primarily to launch heavy cargo, SLS will be the largest rocket ever built and will enable exploration missions beyond low-Earth orbit to many places in the solar system including Mars."
