Architects Design Wooden Bicycle Frame to Explore Structural
    Gear  |  Bike
Bike manufacturer AERO created this prototype bicycle frame from layers of birch to test wooden structural techniques that can be applied to architectural projects. The bicycle was conceived by Martino Hutz, Atanas Zhelev and Mariya Korolova whilst working on a wooden structural design for a London house, during their studies at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. The bike frame is composed of lamellas—millimeter-thick sheets of birch wood glued together into strips that splay out at the points where the crank and peddle are fixed, as well as below the seat. A beautiful bike.

The word Dymaxion is a term that Buckminster Fuller, an American architect, systems theorist, author, designer, and inventor, associated with much of his work. The word is a portmanteau of the words dynamic, maximum, and tension.
Buckminster Fuller's 1933 foray into automobiles gave us the Dymaxion Car, and enthusiast Jeff Lane has one of the only working replicas in the world.

I haven't always loved running, but thanks to Zombies, Run, I can't stop. It's part game and part fitness app; each time you run, you listen to a series of short radio plays that lay out a mission: You're on a supply run for medication, or trying to escape from a building full of zombies, as a radio operator at your base urges you to run, run now! Over time, you get to know the people at your base in Abel Township, and care about what happens to them as the story unfolds. You keep running because you want to know what happens next.
Zombies, Run is free-to-play on your iPhone—and soon, on both Android devices and the Apple Watch.
The game won't be entirely free, of course; new players will get access to the first four episodes of the first season, and then ability to unlock one new episode each week. Otherwise, you can purchase more missions either season by season, or through an all-access monthly ($2.99) or yearly ($19.99) pass. Existing players get a discount, with an annual pass for only $7.99. Now get running, they're right behind you!

It’s called the octobass or octobasse. French violinmaker Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume invented it in 1849 or 1850. He wanted to add a very low tone to orchestral performances. The octobasse is 2 octaves lower than a cello. Its lowest C note can’t even be heard by the human ear. Vuillaume built 3 octobasses. 2 of these instruments survive to this day. There are also 2 replicas. The Museum of Musical Instruments in Phoenix, Arizona has one of those replicas. In this video, curator Colin Pearson demonstrates how to play it.
