After owning a mobile phone company, an airline company, a Caribbean island and some luxury restaurants, billionaire Sir Richard Branson’s latest possession is an underwater plane dubbed the Necker Nymph. It can dive to depths of up to 130ft, Richard hopes to one day explore depths of 35,000ft, and it will cost Branson around 415,000 British pounds. The Necker Nymph is is relatively small and can carry just three people, one pilot and two passengers. The luxury sub has fighter jet technology and is piloted with a joystick. While most subs use ballast to propel subs under the water, the Nymph uses downward 'lift' on the wings to fly down. It was designed and built by Graham Hawkes.
Allert Jacob has turned his 100+ MPG(miles per gallon) Honda(Honda ANF125i Innova, picture below) into a 200+ MPG low-CD streamliner. Wow! Despite the modifications an extra 88lbs to the bike, it it still manages to eke out more miles per gallon, cool! "The modified motorbike weights 319lbs (about 88lbs more than the standard bike). The engine is a fuel injected, four stroke, 125cc single, producing 9 hp (6.85 kW). A realistic figure of real-world MPG for the unmodified bike is around 114 MPG (though Allert got a 133 MPG average while babying it). The modified bike, despite weighting 88lbs more than the unmodified version, gets over 200 MPG in real world driving (214 MPG during a trip in rather cold and windy weather, but more is expected in better conditions). This shows how important aerodynamics is for fuel economy. Sometimes it can be better to add a bit of weight if it's going to make the vehicle more slippery (and the benefits can be compounded by using taller gearing in the transmission; since you need less energy to push against air resistance, you can use gears that keep the engine at a lower RPM). "
If you ride the motorcycle? Now it is too cold to ride your motorcycle? The EntroSys Motorcycle Air Conditioner($TBA) provides a comfortable micro-climate within the riding gear. It comprises two main subsystems: a compact personal air conditioner unit; and a lightweight air delivery garment. Conditioned air - cooled or heated – is driven into the riding gear through an air hose. The little air conditioner clips on the back of the bike and gets wired in to the battery, the hose running to a special vest worn under your gear. A wireless controller mounted on the bars raises or lowers the temp. Watch the video!
Yuneec offers a two-seat electric-powered aircraft, the e430. And the best part, it will be ready to buy next year(2011)! If the company delivers on its promise, this electrically powered plane could change the world, costing just two dollars per hour to power its flight. Priced around $89,000. "Electric flight, once seen as futuristic, has arrived and with E430’s flight times of between 1.5 and 3 hours (depending on configuration) electric flight now becomes a realistic power source for sport aviation. Charging times of 3 hours for as little as $5 make electric a really low cost way to fly and with only 2 main moving parts in the motor (the bearings) the reliability and maintenance are like nothing seen before."

BWM has introduced a leaning trike concept vehicle at the company's museum in Munich, the Simple concept. The simple concept is a a three-wheeler that measures just 110 centimeters wide. It weights around 992 pounds, with a drag coefficient of 0.18, and powered by a electric motor. BMW says the simple is capable of hitting 100 km/h in under ten seconds and it tops out at over 200 km/h , yet needs just 2 litres of gas over 100 km. "Simple is the acronym for sustainable and innovative mobility product for low energy consumption, a vehicle concept combining features and advantages of both motorcars and motorcycles. The concept owes its protective passenger compartment to motorcars whereas the streamline shape, the two occupants seated one behind the other and the uniquely driving experience are naturally owed to motorcycles. Whilst researching ideas for futuristic urban mobility combined with the prerequisite of reduced consumption (less than 2l /100 km eqals more than 120mpg) and emission values (50g CO2 /100 km), the BMW Group spawned this concept vehicle featuring the extremely low weight of 450 kg and aerodynamic drag properties (0,18 drag coefficient), which of course also fulfilled all the BMW Group premium brand demands: sheer driving pleasure, innovative vehicle configuration, technology integration and a sense of comfort and spaciousness."

Ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show starting 14 September, BMW has released the Vision EfficientDynamics Concept. This concept powered by a fuel-efficient 3-cylinder turbodiesel plug-in full-hybrid with one electric motor on each axle. It provides a top speed limited electronically to 155mph with acceleration 0-100 km/h(62mph) in 4.8 seconds. Average fuel consumption is 3.76 liters/100 kilometers. Technology: Offering a full-hybrid concept, the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept car is powered by a three-cylinder turbodiesel and two electric motors. Overall system output is 262 kW/356 hp, maximum torque 800 Newton-metres/590 lb-ft. All-wheel drive featuring an electric motor on both the front and rear axle. • Anticipated performance: Acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, top speed 250 km/h (155 mph) (electronically limited) , fuel consumption in the EU test cycle 3.76 litres/100 km (equal to 75.1 mph imp), CO2 emissions 99 grams/kilometre. • As a plug-in hybrid, BMW Vision EfficientDynamics is able to cover the entire fuel consumption drive cycle under electric power alone. Taking the sources of energy used for generating the electric power consumed into account (EU electricity mix), this reduces the CO2 emission rating to just 50 grams per kilometre. • Electric power is generated without the slightest increase in fuel consumption through a particularly efficient concept of Brake Energy Regeneration. Energy is stored in 98 lithium polymer cells. The car is able to cover a distance of approximately 50 km/31 miles in the electric mode alone. • Aerodynamics developed with know-how from Formula 1. CX drag coefficient optimised to just 0.22. Forward-looking energy management uses the maximum potential available in each case to minimise fuel consumption.
