Hilla Shamia, an Israel based industrial designer, has created "a novel way to meld poured aluminum with irregularly shaped wood pieces to create sleek tables and benches.  The process preserves that natural form of the tree trunk while still allowing the molten aluminum to flow into the crevices of the wood, slightly burning the area where the two materials meet." Rather than simply joining the two materials with nuts and bolts the aluminum is poured directly into the wood, which is then cast into the body of the pieces.

These Pony Girl Rockers by artist Peter Jakubik, his Etsy shop HERE.
"Pony Girl Jacqueline is wooden toy for adults shaped as a woman attached onto the rockers similar to those of a rocking chair. The rocker ironically carries a memory of boys’ games on knights, riders, conquerors or warriors and pushes it into the field of adult fantasies. "

The Congo Quares Bench by Atelier Astúa is a different story as the bench offers a self-contained chess set. It looks an ordinary bench. But when you're ready to play a game, just use the simple mechanism in the bench to release the pieces hiding under the squares outside the chessboard design and all the pieces will appear beside the board. Once they're on the board, you can continue sitting at either side of the bench until the game is over.
