Flying Carpet Rug by Ana Mir & Emili Padrós for Nani Marquina
"Flying Carpet means life at floor level, a plain and relaxing topography, a domestic oasis. Its design makes it a comfortable and playful three-dimensional space to sit down, stretch out and relax, both at home and in public areas. Any of its corners can be raised with grey felt-covered wedges, giving it a new form that allows you to make yourself comfortable on it to read, watch TV or chat."

"When Christian Schallert isn't cooking, dressing, sleeping or eating, his 24 square meter (258 square feet) apartment looks like an empty cube. To use a piece of furniture, he has to build it.
To sleep, he rolls his bed out from under the balcony, his stairs become become bedside tables and he can even swing his TV out from the wall.
To dine, he lowers a plank from the wall, his flower stand becomes a support and his stairs become a bench.
To cook, he clicks a spot on his vast wall of click-able furniture, and a spring-loaded door swings up to reveal an instant kitchen: double-burner, dishwasher, sink, countertop and microwave oven. The full-sized refrigerator and freezer click open just alongside.

"By choosing a studio that measures just 12 feet by 7 feet, Felice Cohen can afford to live in Manhattan's Upper West Side where apartments rent for an average of $3,600 per month. She pays just over $700 for her 90-square-foot microstudio. After a bit of adjustment she now loves living smaller, simpler and cozier. "

Designed by Steve Kuhl. The six-year-old occupant from Minnesota wanted Steve to build a one-of-a-kind bedroom for a one-of-a-kind son. Steve concepted a space ship, race car, and castle before landing on this design.
"The main feature of the room is the incredible floating pirate ship. Kuhl used 2x12 ribs to construct the hull of the ship, covering them with layers of 1/2 inch plywood to act as the planking. A bomb-proof blend of plaster and epoxy with integrated coloring was used simulate an old ship's hull.
The room is also decked out with a rope bridge that connects the pirate ship to the top of a jail cell, and a rope suspended from the ship's hull provides drop-in access to the closet. There's also a completely hidden spiral slide, that lets you travel downstairs in a more adventurous way. "
