The nut cracker Naomi

Gear  |  Other

This genius Nutcracker to crack your nuts, watch the video! “Naomi is a nutcracker that combines aesthetics, functionality and an exciting user experience in a felicitous whole”
"The nut is put in the stainless steel bowl provided and the spring placed above it. The spring is held to the side with two fingers, the ball at the end of the spring is pulled upwards thus putting the spring under tension. As soon as the ball is released, the pin slams down and cracks the nut. Simple and utterly effective. At the same moment as the shell breaks, the conical spring surrounds the nut and prevents shell fragments from flying around the room

You can try and buy it from Amazon.ca for like 70 bucks, until it's available on the Red Dot shop for 20 euros.

Doritos Flavored Mountain Dew

As noted by Redditor joes_nipples, Mountain Dew was apparently doing a taste test at Kent State University in Ohio for, among the flavors, that included Lemon Ginger and Mango Habanero, it seems, was "Mountain Dew Dewitos." According to joes_nipples, the liquid Doritos drink tasted "like if you shoved a handful of Doritos in your mouth and chugged some Dew at the same time." That sounds horrid!

Mesoloft, will scatter your ashes from the edge of space

Array
Gear  |  Other
Some people choose to honor the memory of a lost loved one by doing something creative with their ashes. What's more creative than taking their remains to the very top of the Earth's atmosphere and releasing them? That's what Mesoloft just takes this process much closer to the final frontier. Mesoloft is taking remains to an altitude of 20 miles (32.2 km), which is a part of the stratosphere called Near Space. At this height, Mesoloft co-founder Chris Winfield says that the released ashes travel around in the atmosphere before eventually making their way back to Earth in rain or snow.
"Mesoloft makes it possible to honor the dream and memory of your departed loved one by lifting the cremated remains of a beloved family member into the magnificent beauty of near space, almost twenty miles above our planet. Once released, they will soar and drift in the upper reaches of the earth's atmosphere for weeks and months circulating the globe. "

Ryan Bowen and his baby son Geraint dressed as a mech warrior for Hallowe'en in an awesome effort that turns the child into a brave mecha-pilot. Check out the video!
"Ryan built a frame for the body out of PVC and wrapped a cardboard shell around it and secured it to the frame with zip ties," Bowen's wife said. "He then cut and sculpted the other pieces out of cardboard, with some foam board details to add a true 3D effect. The joints are all fastened with Velcro cable wraps, and the head and other pieces attach to the main body with Velcro tape."
"The legs are supported by a belt, which is hidden under the body," she continued. "His arms slip into the gun pods and he has more Velcro straps on the inside in order to hold them. The feet just fit over his shoes by gluing toilet paper tubes on the inside to take up the extra space."

Hendo Hoverboard, a Real hoverboard

Array
Gear  |  Other

It's called the Hendo and it's being developed by Greg and Jill Henderson for their company Arx Pax.
"It's not exactly Marty McFly's hoverboard. Now it only works on special surfaces, and the battery life is only a few minutes long. And it's tough to ride," the New York Times explains in a new video shot at Arx Pax in Los Gatos, California.
According to the New York Times:
The business plan is to develop magnetic technologies and license patents to builders, engineering firms, the Green Goblin and anyone else who might need to hover something.
Mr. Henderson may be a dreamer, but he is enough of a realist to understand that people are likely to be more interested in hovering skateboards than they are in his ideas for new kinds of building foundations.
"So no, I did not feel like Marty McFly. But you can definitely tell you're floating. That's for sure. You can kind of feel that something is lifting you," Conor Dougherty from the New York Times explains.
"We can't go over water or sidewalks yet. This is the Model T," Greg Henderson told the New York Times in defense of his creation.
The Hendo isn't even the Model A. It is currently up for funding on Kickstarter.
