Gear  |  News
The NASA engineers test the Crew Mobility Chassis Prototype for return the moon in the future. The Crew Mobility Chassis Prototype is NASA's new concept for a lunar truck. Researchers are trying it out at Moses Lake, Wash., this week as part of a series of tests of lunar surface concepts. One feature is its high mobility. Each set of wheels can pivot individually in any direction, giving the vehicle the ability to drive sideways, forward, backward and any direction in between -- important if the truck becomes mired in lunar dust, needs to zigzag down a steep crater wall or parallel park at its docking station. NASA currently is building the spacecraft and systems to return to the moon by 2020. [ link ]

You can see your baby of the pregnancy in the future. It looks amazing and impressive. "A 4-D time-lapse ultrasound image like this may elicit warm emotions as parents distinguish their unborn baby's facial features and fingers for the first time, but the same cannot usually be said about the clinical environment in which such images are created. Last year, Philips researchers began modeling ultrasound visits after a spa-like experience, complete with ambient lighting and new technologies intended to reduce stress. Images are streamed onto a big, bubble-like screen. With large, clearer images, Rettenbacher says, doctors may be able to "diagnose abnormalities a lot earlier than [they can] today." by Washington Post." [ Link ]

The site BIGGEST DRAWING IN THE WORLD details a GPS-briefcase trip throughout the world. Artist Erik Nordenankar places a gps tracker inside a case and send this briefcase by DHL to create a biggest gps track map - Self Portrait.
Update : Gizmodo said that GPS-Tracked Biggest Drawing in the World is Complete Fake. The artist has added a line to the bottom of his webpage stating "This is fictional work. DHL did not transport the GPS at any time." And DHL confirmed that Nordenenkar never went any further than a warehouse the company allowed him to film in. Many pointed out that DHL delivery planes would have been highly unlikely to make the tight loops in the North Atlantic that form the hair of the self-portrait. (Thanks, Curtis)

Gear  |  News
It is a good news for the cyborgs in the crowd. The sprinter Oscar Pistorious qualify for the Beijing Games on prosthetics. He uses carbon-fiber Cheetah Flex-Foot prosthetic feet when he runs. Detractors says Oscar could be using as little as 25% of the energy of other sprinters and It further quantified Pistorius's prostheses as 30% more efficient than a human ankle. Unfortunately for Pistorius, his toughest challenge might still be ahead. He'll need to cut 1.01 seconds of his personal best of 46.56 to qualify for the 400-meter race in Beijing. Should he not hit that mark, South Africa could select him to the relay squad or as an alternate. [ Pic from Popsci and flexfoot ]
