Apple to sell a $99 4GB iPhone at Walmart?

Array
Gear  |  News
Today Boy Genius Report said that Apple will sell a $99(2-year contract) 4GB iPhone at Walmart, really?
"We just got a tip that in addition to the iPhone 3G actually making its way to Walmart, as we exclusively told you, there will be a 4GB model priced at $99 with a 2-year agreement. We're not putting our stamp of approval behind this one just yet as the tipster isn't listed in our BGR's Guide to respected Ninjas handbook, but it does make you think, doesn't it? Now, we all know Apple dropped the 4GB iPhone from its initial line-up, but that was at a $399 price-point. 4GB is certainly enough for some songs and short music videos, but let's not kid ourselves. Anyone looking to spend $99 on an iPhone probably doesn't care that much about storage anyway and they'll be more than happy to drop that amount for one of the best-selling smartphones in the country. Just don't hate us if this doesn't happen, we warned you. Thoughts?"

Cave Of Giant Crystals Found Below Mexican Desert

Array
Gear  |  News
Nearly 1,000ft below the Chihuahua Desert in Mexico, there is a cave of Crystals. It is discovered by two brothers drilling in the Naica lead and silver mine. Up to 170 giant, luminous obelisks - the biggest is 37.4ft long and the equivalent height of six men. The giant obelisks are formed from groundwater saturated in calcium sulphate which filtered through the cave system millions of years ago. Because the crystals resemble giant icicles, the picture suggests it must be very cold inside the Cave of Crystals - but appearances can be deceptive. In fact, the temperature is a sweltering 112F, with a humidity of 90-100 per cent. The picutures looks amazing!! Click 2 enlarge.

Today the big news is that the Google today will release a Voice Recognition search app for the iPhone. You can ask virtually any question, likes "Where's the nearest Starbucks?" or "How tall is Mount Everest?" to your iPhone...
"Users of the free application, which Apple is expected to make available as soon as Friday through its iTunes store, can place the phone to their ear and ask virtually any question, like ¡°Where¡¯s the nearest Starbucks?¡± or ¡°How tall is Mount Everest?¡± The sound is converted to a digital file and sent to Google¡¯s servers, which try to determine the words spoken and pass them along to the Google search engine.
The search results, which may be displayed in just seconds on a fast wireless network, will at times include local information, taking advantage of iPhone features that let it determine its location."

If you go to the Starbucks recently? Do you know that Starbucks 4Q profit drops 97 pct on closure costs [ link ] .
"Fewer U.S. customers and venti-sized costs for closing poorly performing stores led to lower sales and profit in the fourth quarter at Starbucks Corp., the company said Monday.
Seattle-based Starbucks said profit in the quarter fell 97 percent to $5.4 million, or a penny a share, from $158.5 million, or 21 cents per share. The coffee retailer earned 10 cents per share when the costs from closing about 600 stores in the U.S. and 61 locations in Australia are excluded."

Photoshop?

Array
Gear  |  News
If you remember the Iran's photoshop missile. The image, released on Wednesday, appeared to show Mr Kim in good health while inspecting two military units, to dispel rumors of ill health. 'Fake photo' revives Kim rumours, by BBC. Photoshop?
In the photo, the shadow cast by Mr Kim's calves runs in a different direction to the shadow cast by the soldiers on either side of him, the Times pointed out. In addition, a black line running along the stand on which the soldiers are positioned mysteriously vanishes on either side of Mr Kim - suggesting his picture may have been superimposed onto the image.
Such a suspicion was reinforced when a BBC designer examined a close-up, and discovered apparently mismatched pixels to the right of Mr Kim's legs.
The validity of some of other pictures has been questioned in the past. For example, one image released in October appeared to include lush foliage in the background that was incongruous with autumn.
