Quant E-Sportlimousine

Car  |  SportsCars

The Quant E-Sportlimousine is powered by salt water. Powered by a salt water nanoFLOWcell system. It’s a 912-horsepower electric car. The heart of the car utilizes a three-tank system that stores two types of liquid electrolytes — one positively charged, the other negatively. The liquids are circulated through the center tank; a battery-like cell with a membrane separating it into two halves. An electrical charge is generated from that membrane as the two liquids swirl on either side of it. The system generates enough power to propel the car reach a top speed of over 218 miles per hour and accelerate to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds, and the range is said to be between about 250 to 370 miles between charges.

Mini Superleggera Vision

Car  |  SportsCars

BMW has unveiled a new Mini concept at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2014, in Lake Como, Italy, the Mini Superleggera Vision. Designed as a hybrid of classic British shapes, modern engineering and traditional Italian design and construction, the car was built by one of Italy's oldest bespoke car manufacturers and was mostly manufactured by hand.
"The MINI SuperleggeraTM Vision elegantly perpetuates what the Classic Mini started 55 years ago: reduction to the essentials. Its energetic, minimalistic design embodies the dynamic essence of an automobile. At the same time it creates unique emotional beauty in combining the past and future of the automotive industry, i.e. traditional coachwork craftsmanship and modern design styling. It was a pleasure for me to design a concept like this.” says Anders Warming, Head of MINI Design.
The perfectly balanced proportions indicate at first glance what the electrically powered MINI Superleggera™ Vision has to offer in terms of a driving experience: the stretched bonnet, long wheelbase and cool, short overhangs convey pure driving fun. As in every MINI, the wheels are set widely on the body, promising a high degree of agility. The passenger cell is slightly set back, further underscoring the car’s dynamic impression. The overall effect of the MINI Superleggera™ Vision is sporty, elegant and dynamic."

Toyota FT-1 Concept

Toyota showed off the new Toyota FT-1 Concept at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show.
"“Function-sculpting” design language yields curved, muscular, expressive body forms seemingly shaped by the wind.  Inlets, ducting, and vents are features of the exterior design that help reinforce its track–ready nature with elements of purposeful airflow management.  At higher speeds a retractable rear wing deploys and tilts forward to create additional downforce.  The body’s athleticism is expressed with taut surfaces and dramatic fender forms that seduce the eyes when covered in an unapologetically red hue.
The front engine rear-wheel drive configuration locates the cockpit far rearward within the wheelbase to improve weight distribution.  This design element also helps create the classic sportscar proportions one would expect from a vehicle poised to dominate even the most challenging road course. The cockpit’s wraparound windshield and side glass openings are a distinct nod to the design of the legendary Toyota 2000GT."
