| A research team at UC Berkeley is developing a technology that will enable anyone, anywhere in the world, to diagnose malaria with just a cell phone and a special microscope. The cell phone microscope, called a CellScope, which is an attachment for camera-enabled mobile phones that turns them into microscopes. The attachment would allow any user with rudimentary training to diagnose malaria in the field, and transmit the image directly to a clinic or lab. Unfortunately it is still in prototyping phase, if mass-produced, will sell for less than $100. [ Pic Via ] | |
