At at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan Chilean architect Alejandro Aravena designed a strap for furniture brand Vitra, the strap can be wrapped around the body and used instead of a chair. Good idea!
"Chairless is a simple tool for sitting – a textile strap joined into a loop, measuring 85 cm in length and 5 cm in width, which can be wrapped around the back and knees in order to stabilise the body and relieve tension, while in a seated position. Chairless is mobile. Weighing less than 85 grams, the strap can be folded into a compact size allowing it to fit easily into a pocket – the ideal sitting aid while out and about."

I won't stand for this.

I'm curious to see what Vitra will price this at. You can currently buy essentially the same item at REI for about  $7.

This is ridiculous. Who would buy that?

Credit to the African/middle eastern  Nomads who've been using their shawls to do the very same thing for centuries, which incidentally is a lot more comfortable than a polyester strap. Alejandro Aravena just stole the idea.

The Nomadas living in sahara regions use their  'shawls' as mentioned by Guled which is actually their turbans, a long piece of cloth for the purpose when needed.

In answer to @Millah's comment, Vitra are selling it for £19. I do think it's quite cool though - and I think (despite the price) I may buy one.
